Compulsions and Obsessions
Perhaps inbuilt in our very nature is the tendency to obsess about a particular incident or possibility. It may be part of our survival mechanism, but it can also become a serious problem. Compulsions too can move from a simple act of spontaneity to something more destructive in our lives, and often they can be linked to an obsession.

Obsessions
These are thoughts, images or impulses, which are usually unpleasant; they come to mind seemingly unbidden and persist in our thoughts no matter what we do to be rid of them. Many things can trigger these obsessions, and they usually leave the person feeling very anxious, uncomfortable or frightened. One might be Obsessional about having a clean germ free house because the thought of it being anything less than spotless is totally unacceptable. These thoughts might dominate the persons mind and those with a streak of perfectionism may sooner succumb to Obsessional behaviours. Examples might be:
...............· Constant worrying
...............· Absurd personal rituals
...............· Repeated hand washing
...............· Overly concerned about health related issues
............... · Worry and jealousy in relation to a partner
...............· Checking rituals
...............· Counting rituals
There is usually no reward or satisfaction in these behaviours just an ever burning inner desire to do it again and again and again.

Compulsions
These are normally an impulsive action which always has a reward or satisfaction in the compulsion being completed, however short term, and this is very often followed by guilt and recrimination. Compulsive acts may, but also may not, be a part of an obsessional cycle. Compulsive behaviours include:
...............· Gambling
...............· Drugs
...............· Smoking
...............· Drinking (in excess)
...............· Self harm
...............· Overeating
...............· Biting ones nails
Research tells us that everyone has odd or distressing thoughts and pictures cropping up in their mind from time to time. Most people dismiss these as meaningless. However, those who feel most guilty, distressed or disturbed by the thoughts may involuntarily bring back these thoughts into their mind because of this distress.

Hypnoanalysis is a proven permanent relief for Obsessions, Compulsions, anxieties and phobias.
